Airports

There are three major airports that service the San Francisco Bay Area.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
This is the closest airport to San Francisco, and services most major airlines. It is located approximately 13 miles south of San Francisco, near the intersection of Highways 101 and 380.

Oakland International Airport (OAK)
Located in Oakland, it's only a slightly longer drive into San Francisco than from SFO.

San José International Airport (SJC)
Mineta San José International is the farthest airport from San Francisco, approximately an hour south. It is located near the intersections of 101 and 880.

Automobile Rentals

Auto rentals are available at all of the airports in the area. Following are some links to more information:

Local / Public Transportation

For transporation around the Bay Area, BART is an inexpensive and convenient way to get around.

Within San Francisco, the MUNI trains, buses, and cable cars can get you most places quickly and efficiently. As with many cities, parking is at a premium, so public transportation is always recommended.

After all, a visit to San Francisco would not be complete without a ride on a cable car!
